Desert Sun Child Development Center

Desert Sun Child Development Center, founded in 1978, is a nonprofit early childhood school in Chandler, AZ, serving PreK through Kindergarten (81 students). Its mission is to deliver high-quality education to young children while empowering parents as primary educators. Inspired by Reggio Emilia, the play-based curriculum emphasizes hands-on, experiential learning across physical, social, emotional, and intellectual domains, aligning with brain research on critical early development. Housed on a renovated 1951 farm property with expansive outdoor play areas, it fosters community through parent participation and Conscious Discipline—no physical punishment.
